Kaia, Story and Optimism need a Premium key
Kaia, Story and Optimism move to Premium-only in the second half of October, mainnet and testnet for each. Keyless calls and Freemium keys stop working on the dates below. Premium and Enterprise keys keep working with no change, and no method limits, error codes or rate limits changed on any other network.
Deprecations and end-of-support
Premium key required
| Network | Endpoints | From |
|---|---|---|
| Kaia | mainnet, Kairos testnet | 17 October 2026 |
| Story | mainnet, Aeneid testnet | 22 October 2026 |
| Optimism | mainnet, Sepolia testnet | 27 October 2026 |
From its date, a keyless call or a Freemium key on Kaia or Story returns HTTP 403 with -32052. The code does not clear on retry, so a key with the right plan is the only fix. Optimism already refused keyless calls on rpc.ankr.com, and from 27 October Premium is the only way we serve it.
The networks stay in the chain list, with the same endpoints, methods and API reference pages.
Worth checking on your side
- A keyless Kaia or Story endpoint in your configuration is the thing to look for. If you copied
rpc.ankr.com/kaiaorrpc.ankr.com/story_mainnetwithout a key, it stops answering on the date above. -32052on a Freemium key means the network needs Premium. See Service plans to upgrade, then use the same key.- Nothing changes for Premium and Enterprise keys. Same rate limits, same batch size, same block range, and no method moved between plans.
