Roundup: Sepolia runs Glamsterdam, Filecoin and IoTeX fork on 19 October, eth_sendTransaction returns -32075

Docs Team

eth_sendTransaction now returns -32075 Method disabled on every EVM chain, instead of an error from the node. We never hold keys for you, so the method could not send a transaction before either; only the error you get back changed. Ethereum Sepolia activated Glamsterdam on 6 October, Filecoin mainnet moves to network version 29 and IoTeX mainnet to the Zanzibar hard fork on 19 October, and our nodes for all three already run the releases that carry them. XRP Ledger mainnet is on the rippled 3.4.1 security release. Whitechain Sepolia is on the Web3 API platform, the x402 manifest lists paid JSON-RPC routes, and Agent RPC MCP 0.2.4 is on npm and in the MCP Registry.

Docs

  • Agent RPC MCP: pay per call, and a VS Code install button. The Agent RPC MCP page now documents sessions opened without an API key: each tool call costs $0.001 in USDC, over x402 on Monad at https://mcp.ankr.com/rpc or MPP on Solana at https://mcp.ankr.com/rpc/mpp, and listChains and describeMethods are free. The overview, quickstart and troubleshooting pages used to say there was no keyless mode. The page and the quickstart also gained an Install in VS Code link next to the Cursor one.
  • Midnight token naming. The Midnight pages now say that NIGHT is the native token and DUST is a shielded, non-transferable resource that pays transaction fees. They used to describe DUST as a wrapped ADA token. The system_properties reference uses ["NIGHT"] as its example token symbol.

Platform

  • Whitechain Sepolia is on the Web3 API platform. The Whitechain page lists the testnet, and the chain is in the console, so you can call it with your API keys. For the endpoint, chain ID and method lists, see Whitechain Sepolia is in the docs.

Agentic RPC

  • The x402 manifest lists paid JSON-RPC routes. https://x402.rpc.ankr.com/.well-known/x402 used to list only the Agent RPC MCP tools. It now has 24 resources: 23 MCP tools on https://mcp.ankr.com/rpc and the Monad mainnet JSON-RPC route, POST https://x402.rpc.ankr.com/monad_mainnet. Each listed call costs $0.001, paid in USDC on Monad (eip155:143). On the JSON-RPC route, eth_chainId, net_version and web3_clientVersion are free; on MCP, describeMethods and listChains are free. /pricing has the full price list.
  • The 402 challenge names an https resource. resource.url in the payment challenge now reads https://x402.rpc.ankr.com/<chain>. It used to say http://, so a client comparing the challenge with the URL it called saw a mismatch.
  • Agent RPC MCP 0.2.4 is on npm and in the MCP Registry. @w3tech.io/agent-rpc-mcp 0.2.4 brings all twenty-five tools, the eight Sui tools included, to a local stdio install. The previous npm release, 0.2.2, had seventeen. The official MCP Registry lists the server as io.github.w3tech/agent-rpc-mcp 0.2.4, with both the hosted endpoint https://mcp.ankr.com/rpc and the npm package.

Network upgrades

  • Ethereum Sepolia: Glamsterdam (Amsterdam on the execution layer) activated on 6 October at 13:53:36 UTC. Our Sepolia nodes run reth v2.7.0, which schedules it, and eth_config on our endpoint reports Amsterdam as the current fork.
  • Filecoin mainnet: nodes on Lotus v1.37.0, the minimum release for network version 29 (Solstice) at epoch 6470279, 19 October at 12:59:30 UTC. Calibration moved to nv29 on 28 September.
  • IoTeX mainnet: nodes on v2.5.1, which carries the Zanzibar hard fork at block 53533081, estimated by upstream for 19 October around 02:00 UTC.
  • IOTA mainnet: nodes on v1.33.1, and protocol version 37 is active. Upstream allowed it to enable from the start of epoch 521, on 8 October at 07:42 UTC.
  • Sui: mainnet nodes on mainnet-v1.81.1, and protocol version 138 is active on mainnet. Testnet is on protocol 138 as well.
  • XRP Ledger mainnet: nodes on rippled 3.4.1, the upstream emergency release for the issues in the vulnerability disclosure. It adds the fixBatchV1_2 amendment, which is already enabled on mainnet.
  • Base mainnet and Base Sepolia: nodes on base v1.4.2, which carries the Cobalt hard fork. Cobalt went live on Base Sepolia on 23 September and on Base mainnet on 30 September.

Client versions

Worth checking on your side

  • If you match on the error from eth_sendTransaction, expect -32075. Sign transactions on your side and send them with eth_sendRawTransaction, which is unchanged. See Error codes.
  • Sepolia blocks carry Amsterdam header fields. Blocks now include blockAccessListHash. If your code decodes block headers strictly against a fixed field list, update it.
  • reth v2.7.0 on Ethereum mainnet and Sepolia: trace_filter without block bounds and trace_callMany without a block now default to latest. Pass an explicit range or block when you need historical or pending state.
  • Erigon 3.7 on Gnosis mainnet: a null in a required positional argument now returns -32602 instead of being read as a zero value. For example, eth_getBlockByNumber with [null, false] fails; pass a block tag or number.
  • Filecoin mainnet from nv29: StateMinerInitialPledgeCollateral returns an error. Upstream points to StateMinerInitialPledgeForSector, with the full sector size passed as the verified size. DataCap and verified-registry writes are refused from the same epoch.
  • TAC history before the v1.6.0 migration is complete again. Those blocks used to come back with an empty transactions array while eth_getLogs still returned their logs. With v1.6.4, eth_getBlockByNumber, eth_getTransactionByHash, eth_getTransactionReceipt, eth_getBlockReceipts and the tracers return the transactions. If you indexed TAC history, re-read those blocks.
  • Sui testnet at protocol 138: transaction effects no longer report transaction dependencies. The field stays in the encoding as an empty list.
  • If you run your own nodes next to ours, upgrade Filecoin to Lotus v1.37.0 or later and IoTeX to v2.5.x before 19 October. An XRP Ledger server older than 3.4.1 is already amendment blocked.
  • No other RPC method limits, error codes, batch caps or range caps changed.
