Roundup: Sui JSON-RPC on a reduced method set, Confidential RPC, fast safe on Ethereum, Hoodi skips Glamsterdam
Sui JSON-RPC now runs on a reduced method set: 26 methods on mainnet, none on testnet. Move to gRPC or GraphQL. Ankr Confidential RPC is live in demo phase, and safe on Ethereum mainnet now trails the head by 1 to 2 slots. Confidential RPC is a mode of Verifiable RPC: your SDK encrypts each call to an attested Intel TDX node, so Ankr's gateway relays bytes it cannot read. On Ethereum, safe follows the Fast Confirmation Rule instead of lagging about 13 minutes. Hoodi postponed Glamsterdam, and our Hoodi nodes run the releases that cancel the 26 October activation. Base Sepolia is on Denim, IOTA mainnet on protocol 38, and the docs now spell out WebSocket limits.
Already announced since the last roundup
- Ankr Confidential RPC in demo phase, trust model and SDK 0.4.0. Start with Confidential mode and the trust model.
- Ethereum
safenow confirms in 12 to 24 seconds. - Kaia, Story and Optimism need a Premium key.
- Filecoin mainnet is on Lotus v1.38.1.
- Fuel, Kusama, HECO, Kinto and 0G Galileo endpoints retired.
- Neura testnet reaches end of support.
Docs
- Sui JSON-RPC reference. The JSON-RPC pages now list only the 26 methods our mainnet endpoint serves, and the Sui overview drops the testnet JSON-RPC endpoint.
- WebSocket limits. Service plans now lists them: up to 500 concurrent connections per source IP (HTTPS and WebSocket together), no gateway cap on subscriptions per connection (Monad nodes allow 100), and a 15 MB maximum response. A connection over the per-IP limit is rejected with HTTP
503, and a response over 15 MB returns-32081. The connection error codes-32067,-32068,-32069and-32077now say they apply only to keys with a custom connection limit. - NEAR
view_statepaging. The View contract state reference documentslimitandafter_key_base64, with a two-page example. Contracts with a large state answerState of contract <account> is too large to be viewedunless you page. - Ankr Forge Heats. The Forge overview and Points and rewards pages explain Heats, Forge's roughly three-month rounds with their own leaderboard. Heat 1 is complete and its leaderboard is preserved. Heat 2 is live with the Kite campaign.
Network upgrades
- Sui mainnet: nodes on mainnet-v1.82.3, and protocol version 139 is active. This release removes JSON-RPC from the Sui full node, see below.
- Ethereum Hoodi: Glamsterdam, scheduled for 26 October at 17:42:48 UTC, is postponed with no new date. Our Hoodi nodes run Geth v1.17.10 and Erigon v3.8.1 on the execution side and Lighthouse v8.3.2 on the consensus side, all of which cancel the activation.
- Base Sepolia: nodes on base v1.5.0 since 20 October, ahead of the Denim hard fork deadline of 21 October at 18:00 UTC. Base mainnet stays on v1.4.2; Denim is not scheduled there yet.
- IOTA mainnet: nodes on v1.34.1 before protocol version 38 activated at epoch 535, on 22 October at 07:42 UTC.
Client versions
- Ethereum mainnet and Ethereum Sepolia: reth v2.8.0.
web3_clientVersionreturnsreth/v2.8.0-05ba481. - Arbitrum One, Arbitrum Nova and Arbitrum Sepolia: Nitro v3.12.2.

- Monad mainnet: v0.16.5.
- Scroll mainnet: scroll-v5.10.11.
- Polygon mainnet: Heimdall v0.12.2.
- Filecoin mainnet: Lotus v1.38.3, an upstream security release.
Filecoin.Versionreturns1.38.3+mainnet. - TRON mainnet: GreatVoyage-v4.8.2.4, which upstream marks as a mandatory upgrade.
- Solana mainnet: Agave v4.3.2.
- Polkadot: v1.25.0 (
polkadot-stable2609). - Sei mainnet (pacific-1): v6.7.2.
- Aptos mainnet: aptos-node v1.49.6.
Deprecations and end-of-support
- Sui JSON-RPC: reduced method set on mainnet, gone on testnet. The Sui full-node software no longer serves JSON-RPC, so
https://rpc.ankr.com/suinow answers from a Sui indexer. It serves 26 methods:sui_devInspectTransactionBlock,sui_dryRunTransactionBlock,sui_executeTransactionBlock,sui_getCheckpoint,sui_getNormalizedMoveFunction,sui_getObject,sui_getProtocolConfig,sui_getTransactionBlock,sui_multiGetObjects,sui_tryGetPastObject,sui_tryMultiGetPastObjects,suix_getAllBalances,suix_getBalance,suix_getCoinMetadata,suix_getCoins,suix_getDynamicFieldObject,suix_getDynamicFields,suix_getLatestSuiSystemState,suix_getOwnedObjects,suix_getReferenceGasPrice,suix_getStakes,suix_getStakesByIds,suix_getValidatorsApy,suix_queryTransactionBlocks,suix_resolveNameServiceAddressandsuix_resolveNameServiceNames. Every other method returns-32601 Method not found, includingsui_getChainIdentifier,sui_getLatestCheckpointSequenceNumber,sui_getCheckpoints,sui_getEvents,suix_queryEvents,suix_getAllCoins,suix_getTotalSupply,suix_getCommitteeInfoand allunsafe_*transaction builders. JSON-RPC over WebSocket and JSON-RPC on Sui testnet are no longer available. gRPC covers mainnet, testnet and archive data with the same Premium token, and GraphQL covers mainnet.
Worth checking on your side
- If you call Sui over JSON-RPC, check your method list against the JSON-RPC pages and move anything else, and anything on testnet, to gRPC.
- Ethereum Hoodi is served by Erigon v3.8.1 as well as Geth v1.17.10.
debug_*andtrace_*output differs between the two clients, so re-run any Hoodi tracing calls you depend on. - reth v2.8.0 on Ethereum mainnet and Sepolia changes Parity
trace_*output to match other clients. Deleted accounts report emptystateDiffstorage,vmTraceops and subs reflect only what executed, and a reverted CREATE returns{gasUsed, output}without an address. - Monad v0.16.5:
eth_simulateV1enforces a maximum response size, and an empty full state override now zeroes the overridden account's storage, as Geth does. - If you open many WebSocket connections from one IP, stay under 500 and run many subscriptions on each connection instead. A new connection over the limit gets HTTP
503.
