XRP Ledger is one of the most distinctive blockchains in web3. Unlike most networks, it doesn't rely on smart contracts as an add-on layer; every primitive is built directly into the L1. Payment channels, a native decentralized exchange, cross-currency settlement, token issuance, and multi-signing are all available out of the box, without deploying a contract.

That architecture makes XRPL genuinely different to build on. And today, Ankr is making it easier to access.

Ankr's public RPC infrastructure is now live on XRP Ledger, giving developers direct access to the network without running their own nodes. Connect to XRPL mainnet and testnet via Ankr's distributed node infrastructure, the same enterprise-grade standard Ankr applies across 100+ chains.

What Ankr's XRPL RPC Supports

Ankr runs full nodes on XRP Ledger, supporting 43 methods across all major categories:

Account methods — query balances, trust lines, NFTs, transaction history, payment channels, and currency exchange offers. Everything you need to build wallet integrations and account-level tooling.

Ledger methods — retrieve ledger versions, entries, and state. Build applications that read and verify on-chain data in real time.

Transaction methods — submit transactions, simulate them before sending, and query transaction history. The simulate method lets you preview any transaction type and its metadata before committing.

Path and order book methods — find payment paths, query AMM instances, check order book changes, and retrieve aggregate oracle prices. Essential for payment applications and DeFi integrations.

Payment channel methods — verify payment channel claims. Build fast, low-cost repeated payment flows between parties.

Server info methods — query fees, protocol amendments, validator info, and server state.

A note on transaction history: Ankr's XRPL nodes retain approximately the last two weeks of transaction history. For applications requiring deep historical data, a dedicated archive service is recommended. Full archive support is on the roadmap.

What's happening on XRP Ledger right now

A lending and borrowing protocol is coming to XRP Ledger mainnet — bringing native DeFi capabilities to one of the most established and institutionally backed networks in the space. XRPL already handles cross-border payments for financial institutions globally. The addition of a native lending protocol expands what's possible on the network considerably.
